Caller reported that on April 26, 2020 around 11 pm that there were 3 lights in the sky and they were moving. This went on for about 15 minutes and then the lights just vanished. They did not reappear. The lights were in the Northern part of the sky.
This image was taken from the KY Dept of Transportation Webcam located at Jenkins, KY on 119. The white trianglar shape with a very clear circil showing on the top of the white shape is visible. It seems to be producing light from the shape. Notice the shadows on the road from the guard rails and the shadow from the light pole. The shadows are coming from 2 different directions. You never know where your next KY Mystery will happen!
In 1938, residents of Ashland, Kentucky, and Elizabethtown, Kentucky, reported seeing a large, black, humanlike being with a huge wingspan, and blazing red eyes. Although the sightings died out by 1939, they reappeared in 2008 when farmer Harley Foster said he saw a bird-like monster with red eyes near his barn. Foster said the monster chased him.
Mothman has been considered an omen of doom. When it disappeared from Kentucky in 1939, people thought it a precursor to war in Europe. In 1967 it foretold the collapse of the Silver Bridge.
During the 1900s, residents of the area around Sand Mountain reported strange lights that moved along the trails and paths of the mountain. They would follow a distance behind travelers as they made their way along the trails. The people felt as if the orbs had intelligence, and would hover than vanish.
On January 6, 1976, three women were driving through Stanford around 11:15 p.m. The vehicles electronics begin to act strange and the car sped up on its own, frightening the women. In a blink, things were normal again, except the women were all covered in burns and it was after 1 a.m., yet they were in the same stretch of highway. They reported the incident to the police and after undergoing hypnotism, it was determined the women had been abducted by what they believed to be aliens.
During 2003 in Flemingsburg, a crop circle was discovered in a field of rye. The area had no significance other than it wasn’t far from another crop circle discovered in Ohio near the Great Serpent Mound. A UFO was also seen flying around Morehead within months of the incident.
Godman Air Force Base, on the outskirts of Louisville, along with the state police were aware of an object that was not a plane, copter, weather balloon, or any known flying object. Captain Thomas Mantell was briefed and took pursuit of the object. He maintained radio contact, but it suddenly stopped. His plane was found crashed, as if it had belly flopped. The Captain was found deceased, with every bone crushed, but there was no blood at the scene. He is buried in Zachary Taylor National Cemetery in Louisville. The images depict his grave, a memorial sign and the actual crash

t exactly 2:47 a.m. on Jan. 14 02, while working a coal train enroute from Russell Kentucky to Shelbiana Kentucky, our trailing unit and first two cars were severely damaged as we struck an unknown floating or hovering object. I know it was 2:47 because my watch froze, and to this day shows that time. Along with my watch the entire electrical systems on both locomotives went haywire.
Approaching a bend near milepost cmg 42 in an area referred to as the wild kingdom, for the many different types of animals spotted there, my conductor and I saw lights coming from around the way. This ordinarily means another train is coming and will pass on the other track. The outlay of the area is this, the river, #1 track, #2 track and a straight up mountainside, carved out for the laying of these tracks. I killed our lights as not to blind the oncoming crew.
As we rounded the corner our onboard computer began to flash in and out, speed recorder went nuts, and both locomotives died. Alarm bells began to ring and thats when we saw the objects. Apparently scanning the river for something, the objects, (at least 3) had several "search" lights trained there, the first object hovered about 10 to 12 feet above the track.
Metallic silver in color with multiple colored lights near the bottom and in the middle, no windows or openings of any kind that we could see. Approximately 18 to 20 feet in length and probably ten feet high.
With both engines dead as we rounded the corner we made little noise and the first object did not respond in time, I estimate that we hit the object at 30 mph with 16,000 trailing tons behind us. It clipped the top of our lead unit then skipped back slicing a chunk out of our trailing unit and first two coal cars. The other objects vanished into thin air.
Our emergency brakes had initiated due to the loss of power and we stopped approximately a mile and a half to two miles after impact. Our power restored after we were stopped and we notified our dispatcher, located in Jacksonville Fla. of what had happened.
We were told to inspect the cars to see if they'd hold the rail and try to limp into milepost cmg 60 which used to be the Paintsville yard which is no longer in full operation. We checked everything out and the cab of the rear locomotive was demolished and smoking, the second two cars looked as if they had been hit with a giant hammer but looked like they'd hold the rail.
We pulled into Paintsville yard at approximately 5:15 am. The huge overhead lights lining the yard were noticeably dark and the only lights came from what we assumed were railroad officials vehicles parked near the end of the track. We pulled to a stop and began unloading our grips off the wounded train.
We could hear what sounded like an army of workers immediately tending to our train. Vehicle doors slamming, guys running by in weird outfits and lights glaring from all directions, the one thing missing was railroad officials.
A guy named Ferguson shook my hand and asked me to follow him into the old yard office. We did, once inside they, and by they I mean I have no idea who these people were, began to ask us hundreds of questions, they then told us for our own protection we'd be medically tested before we could leave.
I asked repeatedly to talk to my road foreman or trainmaster and not only were these requests denied but they confiscated my conductors cellular phone.
Hours later we were led outside the old yard office and the strange things continued to happen, the 2 locomotives and two cars were removed from the rest of the train we had brought in and my only guess was parked 4 tracks over under a huge tent like structure buzzing with activity. We were lead off property and told due to national security our silence on this matter would be appreciated.
We were then put in a Railroad vehicle and taken to Martin Kentucky were we went throgh questioning again with railroad officials and were then drug tested.
After all of this we were sent on to Shelbiana, where we took rest for 8 hours and worked another train back to Russell. Working back we passed by Paintsville, no sign of the engines, cars, tent, people, nothing. (report from NUFORC.org)

Location: Whitesburg, KY
A friend and I were traveling South on us route 119 near Whitesburg, KY. We observed A red glow ahead. About one mile later we were directly opposite the glow. This is steep mountainous terrain and we were at river level and the glow was on the mountain, which was probably 800 feet high. The glow appeared to be along the top of the ridge line and appeared to be 200 to 300 feet wide. It extended down the side of the mountain for approximately 1/3 of the way to the bottom, which would be approximately 300 feet. It didn't illuminate anything but was a vivid soft red glow. At times there were white lights, about the size and brilliance of the brightest stars; and they would move around the edge of the glow. At times we could hear what sounded like human voices buy could not distinguish words; also, we heard what sounded like metal pounding on metal. At one point a powerful spotlight illuminated us briefly and just a small area around us. The beam came from the top which would have been about 1000 feet.
My friend wanted to go into Whitesburg, about 2 miles, and get a friend of ours, who was an attorney, to see what we were looking at. By the time we got back the glow was not as vivid and if I remember correctly we did not hear anymore sound. The glow just kept getting dimmer. Many cars came by and inquired as to what we were looking at. The next day my friend and I traveled to the top of the ridge to see if there were any signs of the activity there were none. It was very rough terrain with many huge boulders and heavily wooded. In order to get to the scene we had to travel a short distance north, cross the river on the highway bridge and walk down a railroad track for about 300 yards to go straight up the hill to the area. After getting back to the railroad track we met a young man who live nearby, about 12 to 15 years old, who had a rifle on his shoulder. We told him what we had seen and was trying to figured out what it was. He said he knew what it was, a flying saucer.
Within about one month of this occurrence we were traveling toward Whitesburg again, at approximately 10:00 p.m. About a mile closer to Whitesburg one of us spotted strange lights high in the sky, about 80 deg. above the horizon. Due to the movement they couldn't be counted but it looked like 12 to 15 objects. They looked like a very bright stars and was dancing around each other, in an area a little larger than a full moon, very rapidly. In a very short time one started to expand and became slightly larger than fell moon. That was scary because when it started expanding I felt it was going to engulf everything. When it got to the maximum size it appeared that molten material, of the same starlight intensity, was dripping from the edge. While this was going on the small lights were dancing around the large object. This sight also disappeared gradually in the same area. I don't know if anyone else saw this or not.

We became avid saucer watchers after this. We would travel to the top on some of our mountains where we had an unobstructed in every direction and spent many hours trying to something else. We never did. I can give names, addresses & phone numbers to legitimate persons if they are interested.

I was asleep, and a very large explosive sound awakened me. I live in Coal mining country so I know by the sound that this was not a surface or underground mine explosion. The sound was too different. I went outside to see what had caused the noise, and I heard a new sound start. A very loud, large rumbling noise made me look up.
The sound just started, it did not start low and get louder, the sound just started, very loud, and seemed to stay at the same level. A very large, oblong object, seemed to be solid, no wavering around the edges like a cloud or smoke. Shape stayed constant. The sky was full of stars, and that is the only way I could determine the shape of the object.
Their was no light coming from the object, and none of the outside light reflected off the object. I tried to get a picture, but the object was so dark, all of the pictures turned out black. It seemed to be just a little ways above the hill tops, but with the object so dark, an exact height can't be determined.
I can estimate the length to be about 270 feet, approximate based on the width of the hills in front and in back of my house. Width of the object, is a little harder, it seemed to be about 1/3 width of the object as compared to the length.
It was moving very slowly, and I watched for about 3 minutes. The sound continued all the time the object was in sight, then the object was not there, and the sound stopped. There was an object, and then it was just gone. No take off, not waving lights, no anything. The object just was not there. Since is was so dark, I could not tell if the object accelerated upwards, or even if the object moved sideways.
Any ideas as too what this was are very welcomed.

Bright lights blinking , on hillside at Kettle Camp Elkhorn City Ky. Saw 4 different ones, lasted about 45 min.
First noticed silvery brilliant lights blinking upon a hillside. Seemed to be behind a tree. Light rose out of tree line, went right to other side of hill, the light when moving had a red glow and was blinking. Then the light came back and traveled down by our house, then vanished. No sounds were heard, no motors, no engines. There was some heavy winds just before we saw these lights. Then we saw 2 more lights, one was above the other. They sat for a while, blinking silvery lights, then one went in the same direction as the first. After a short time the other did the same thing. There are dogs on both sides on the hills. The dogs on the side where the lights were first seen barked and howled constantly. The dogs on the side where the lights went only barked when the lights passed by them. There was a soft glow where we first saw the lights. After the 4th light left the glow was gone and the dogs stopped barking.
ps: Upon investigation I discovered many unusual footprints that were not human or animal. 2 days later the mine was sold and shut down. No one was allowed on the property anymore.
